The Plain English Campaign – a guide to their free resources

Plain EnglishIf you write in English then one organisation (and website) you should be aware of is the Plain English Campaign. Arguably aimed more at non-fiction writers than fiction authors there is plenty here of interest to anybody who wants to get respect from the quality of their prose.

I’ll be the first to admit that my own writing tends to the flowery and down right obscure if I don’t reign it in so I need to look to the following free resources…

Free resources from the Plain English Campaign

First up they have  a newsletter Plain English Magazine and all 82 editions (at the time of writing) are online

There are Free Guides to download and learn from

There’s some free software (not tested)

Other resources

Various training packages exist – I have not tried them and am not affiliated with them. I am thinking of splashing out on one of the less expensive packages at some point.

So – do you follow the guidelines of the Plain English Campaign? Have you any stories to share? Let me know!
