Superfluous – the first short story of 2015

SuperfluousI just finished and submitted a 1,200 word short story in around half-an-hour! What’s the secret? Read on.

I submitted for the Summer 2015 Augmented anthology from Derby based Boo Books – details are here (Open Submissions) but move on, you have until Feb 2105.

How did I do it?

Well, last year I wrote a short piece for a competition that came nowhere. The piece still exists, I had a look over, tweaked it a bit (including some awful mistakes I should have spotted last year) and polished the flow a bit. The result? Superfluous a story about hidden casualties of a future war.

This shows the benefit of just writing and keeping everything. It also shows how we can find mistakes in our own work by not looking at the work for some months;-)

    • I don’t know. I’ve submitted my story, I should hear within six weeks and if successful it will be out in the summer. If not I’ll put it back into my stock – I have other plans for it…
